Our Founder

Pasion was envisioned and founded by Dr. David Thompson (JD, DBA, LSSMBB, PM)

A decorated veteran, a retired Fire Chief, and an active business consultant, Dr. Thompson realized that a great college education did not require large loans, and that passion was the key to learning and teaching.

He decided to name the university Pasion (pronounced: “Pass E On”, which is Spanish for passion.

As a multi-ethnic genetically diverse professional, Dr. Thompson realized that providing students with higher learning was not enough, they needed higher skill levels, and higher skills meant being actively involved in projects and not just reading from a book or website.

His learn, practice, improve, relearn, methodology requires every student and teacher to achieve excellence in all of their endeavors.  His goal is to provide the best education to all students at all times, and to empower highly skilled and motivated professors to create learning environments that produce mastery level results.

Statement from the Founder: Dr. David Thompson (Retired Fire Chief, Decorated Veteran, LSSMBB, PM)(JD, DBA)

Above on the left is my mother. In 2019, as her Alzheimer’s disease was advancing beyond any treatment. She could no longer remember her life, our life, and barely our names; but she never forgot how to love and help other people, and constantly wanted to help others despite her inability to even care for herself.

She and I spoke about this online university and why I believe that mastery learning can only be achieved through a combination of Project Based Learning supported by mentoring professionals with actual experience in operations. She believed that life required passion to be successful and achieve excellence, and thought that my university idea should become a reality.

She made me promised to help others in as many methods as possible, and I gladly agreed because we believed in the same values.

So, when you ask, “Why did I create Pasion?”

It is simple, because I know my mother would be proud of it, knowing that it is was here to build professional business leaders and not participate in fake educational business models that cause high debts and low returns on investments. I know that you have concerns, and joining my university is a risk that you have to consider, but let me put it this way.

In all my years of service, I have never, nor will I ever cheat a person, but rather work diligently to earn their respect and loyalty.

It is what my mother has always appreciated about me.

I hope you join, I hope you learn, I hope you sweat as you face large projects, but most of all I hope that you achieve excellence with my school, because I am passionate about making each day with you a day of personal development in excellence.
